Wow... It's Friday. I just got back on the ship. Today, we took a taxi to Aix en Provence. It was an awesome city. Paul Cezanne's home is there, and it's now a museum of his artwork. We did alot of shopping yet again. The city was packed with little shops, restaurants, and plenty of things to do. It was alot better than Florence. Cleaner, less people, and all-around just a great city. I found a liquor store, and I was hoping to buy a fine bottle of Cognac or Armanac, but, instead I found a neat little Absinthe gift box. How appropriate for southern france! I'm not even NEAR the cognac region.I also bought some shirts, and some really expensive Marsipan. Wel, it's the last night on the boat tonight, so it's time to party. Tomorrow through Monday is Barcelona!!

Man.. I'm so TIRED!! Today, we docked in Livorno, Italy at 6:30 am. We left and got on a train at 8:30, and arrived in Florence at 10:15. Florence was very nice... but way too crowded. I took lots of pictures. I severely bruised my right elbow, when someone pushed me into an iron column. We went to the Uffechi Museum, but, there was a 2 hour wait, so we didn't go in. And, well, honestly rennassaince art just isn't really my thing. I respect it, but, I like their line drawing scribbles better than the paintings. Florence is a really neat city.. great history, great architecture, but I thought it was really dirty. 3 smells permeated every inch of the city.. and they seemed to alternate every 10 feet. You'd start out smelling smoke & exhaust, then you would smell Leather, and then the smell of urine. After we were done in Florence, we took the train to Pisa. We were in a rush, so we just went to the statue, and took pictures, then headed back to the ship. Tomorrow: Marsailles, France.

Cannes, France- Wow.. what a day. It all started with me waking up at 6 am. By 7:15, we were off the boat, and heading for shore. We took a Taxi about an hour northwest to St. Paul de Vence. It's a really old, beautiful village built up on the edge of a mountain. The streets weave in and out like mazes, and there are Art Gallerties, Cafes, and herb / botanical shops everywhere. The art was amazing. It was all contemporary art.. some cubism, expressionism, post-impressionism, and the like. We then drove up the coastline through Antibes (Picasso had a home there, and there is a museum dedicated to him there), and then finally got back to downtown Cannes. There were thousands of people in the streets when we arrived back, due to the 55th Cannes Film Festival which starts tonight at 7:00. We walked through and did alot of shopping. The stores are all expensive-- Armani, Hugo Boss, Yves Saint Laurent, etc. But I got alot of Film Festival merchandise. I took a lot of pictures. Didn't see any notable celebrities, as most haven't arrived yet, or are hiding in the huge hotels. It was a great experience nonetheless. Tomorrow, I'll be back with more updates from Florence, Italy.

More updates! Today, we had a great time in Gibraltar. We got off the boat, and walked from the pier all the way through town, and up to the Cable Car (about 1 hour walk). Once there, we took the cable car up to the top of the Rock (about 520 meters up). We walked around, and took pictures. Then we saw the Rock Apes (tail-less apes native to Gibraltar). I have a few pictures of them grabbing us on the arm and legs. They are friendly, but were very wild still. One guy got bit really bad. After that, we were going to take the cable car down from the top, but somehow decided to walk down stone stairs on the rock. Well, that was pretty scary. It was over 600 stairs (I lost count), and about 220 meters down.. some of it with no hand railing, and just a cliff below. We made it though, and got on the cable car at the middle station (half way down). Then we walked back through town and went shopping. I bought a liter of Bombay Sapphire Gin for $8.50 (it costs about $25-30 at home). Then we ate at Burger King. A chicken sandwich value-meal was more expensive than the Gin. I got really sun-burned walking all day, but it was fun. I'm actually losing weight on this trip. Tomorrow is a Sea Day, so I get to rest, and Wednesday is Cannes, France.

Today, we are in Lisbon, Portugal. We took a Taxi through the city and up the mountains to Cacsius and Sintra. On our way, we stopped by a cliff, and it is called Copa de Roca- which is the Western Most Point in Continental Europe. (sidenote: the Azore Islands are the western-most islands of Europe.) Sintra was very cool. We went up to the Palacious de Pena (Pena Palace). It is a Moorish Castle that was built in the 16th Century, and remained occupied until about 120 years ago. I took tons of pictures. We went down in the city of Sintra, and did some shopping and got some food. While driving on the smallest streets in the world, I here a "THUMP"... out taxi driver hit an old woman! She was ok.. the side view mirror caught her arm.. but still that was pretty crazy. There were hundreds of motorcycles on the road-- they were everywhere, and they are totally wreckless, passing in between cars, etc. I'm now officially collecting Kinder Eggs (check memepool for info on Kinder Chocolate Eggs). They are everywhere.. there are also rip-offs by cadbury and Nestle that the same type of thing- milk chocolate and white chocolate with a toy capsule inside. After Sintra, we drove back through Lisbon. And, now, we just set sail, and are heading to Gibraltor.
